Depending on the locational positioning of tolerance zones of the coupled parts, 3 types of these fits may be distinguished: Clearance fits, interference fits and transition fits. The coupled parts must be fixed mechanically to prevent one moving against the other during assembly. This includes clearance or interference fits specified for precise locational positioning of coupled parts. This includes fits with guaranteed clearances which are specified for movable couplings of those parts which have to run or slide one against the other. IS0 286-1 Geometrical product specifications (GPS) - ISO code system for tolerances on linear sizes - Part 1: Basis of tolerances, deviations. Shaft-Based System (Shaft size is kept constant, hole size varies) Limits, fits, allowances and tolerances charts and calculators according to ISO 286-1 (2010), ISO 286-2 (2010) ,ANSI B4.2 (1978), ANSI B4.1-1967 (R2004) standards which are based on metric and inch units. Hole-Based System (Hole size is kept constant, shaft varies) ISO Hole Tolerance limits is designated with Capital Letter as shown in the chart and It is also described in previous pages. See: Limits and Fits, Selecting Size Tolerances ( video) ISO Hole Tolerances help the manufacturer to machine the parts with specified litims given by engineer.
